Hayden Fry delights crowd at FRY Fest

CORALVILLE — Former Iowa Hawkeye football coach Hayden Fry made a memorable appearance at FRY Fest, an annual ceremony named in his honor, on Friday.

“I can still remember the first few ballgames at the University of Iowa,” Fry, 85, recalled. “Standing on the sidelines of Kinnick Stadium. We make a first down and we get a standing ovation. I’m thinking, I wonder what they would do if we scored a touchdown.”

Fry was absent from the event last year and has battled health issues, including cancer, in recent years. Friday afternoon he appeared on a panel alongside his former quarterbacks.

Fry did not discuss his personal life, but his big smile and overall presence were signs he appears to be doing just fine. On several occasions Fry had the crowd of several hundred laughing and applauding. Продаём беговые дорожки в кредит и лизинг.

As Fry concluded, he offered his support for the Hawkeyes moving forward while taking a look back.

“The teamwork and family-like atmosphere that we had is what motivated us,” he said. “I am so proud of coach Kirk Ferentz and his staff and what they are doing. They’ve done a wonderful job and will continue to do a wonderful job.”
