Hope rewind: Men’s, women’s tennis fall; women’s lacrosse wins exhibition

The Hope College men’s tennis team fell to 2-8 overall with a 6-3 loss to Wheaton (Ill.) on Saturday, March 28.
Camden Ludlow defeated Karl Wenzel at No.5 singles (6-4, 6-1, 10-8), Sam Kreps topped Derek Mumaw at No. 6 singles (6-3, 6-3) and the pairing of Kreps/Matthew Culver defeated Wenzel/Josh Ward at No. 1 doubles (8-4) for Hope. Есть для Вас, тренинги личностного роста Киев Торонто.

Women’s Tennis
Case Western Reserve 8, Hope 1

The No. 22-ranked Flying Dutch dropped their first loss to a Division-II opponent in 10 matches this season.

The lone victory for Hope came at No. 5 singles, where Paige Courts defeated Sarah Berchuck (7-6, 6-2, 10-7).

Men’s Lacrosse

Illinois Wesleyan 15, Hope 11

The Flying Dutchmen lost their fifth straight game on Saturday.

Grant Brogan and Gunnar Elder both paced Hope (2-6) with three goals.

Parker Osterink and Mike Odea each scored two goals, with Ty Miedema adding one.

Seth McCall (1-3) took the loss after making nine saves, with Joe Williams making five saves in relief.

Women’s Lacrosse

Hope 18, WMU Club 5

The Flying Dutch won in exhibition play against Western Michigan’s club team.

Dana Kym led Hope with five goals, followed by Linnea Ridlen with four and Molly Greenfiled and Makenzie Schumborg chipping in two each.

Emily Deane, Reinie Thomas, Amie Hixon, Grace Ahlgrim and Lindsey Hoaglund each added a goal.

Michaela Biegner made four saves for Hope.

«You’d think he’d be pretty good around the bag, even scooping, because you get a lot of those hot shots around third base,» said Girardi, who wants to look at Rodriguez at first base again before spring training ends.

As for using him at his new position during the regular season, the manager added: «It’s not something that we’re looking to do, but if something happens to one of our other guys, I would feel comfortable throwing him out there.»

Rodriguez walked in the first against Scott Feldman and singled leading off the fourth. Expected to be primarily a designated hitter, A-Rod is hitting .324 (12 for 37) with seven walks, three home runs and four RBI.
