Who and where «forges» the champions?

Surely, even among people far removed from the circle of professional boxing there are those for whom the names of Thomas Hearns, Oscar De La Hoya, Evander Holyfield, Lennox and the Klitschko brothers – is not empty sound. Connoisseur, probably also familiar Julio Cesar Chavez, Naseem Hamed, Milton and Steve MakKrorayi, Oliver McCall, Leon Spinks and Tony Tucker. What unites all of these distinguished individuals, where they are preparing for their fights, and who are ready?

All these fighters connects one name – Emanuel Steward, and one place – «Kronk’s Bench» in Detroit.

Emanuel Steward to be born July 7, 1944 in Bottom Creek, West Virginia, the son of a miner. He grew up moving a child from an early age and was fond of swimming, wrestling and, of course, boxing.

When Emmanuel was seven years old, his parents gave him for Christmas boxing gloves. Kid Steward shall not be separated from them for a moment, dragged around with him and even slept in them. Soon, in the district there is not one boy who wanted to be with him «posparringovat.» And at the age of eight years Emmanuel has already held its first «illegal» combat with peers from neighboring cities and celebrated his first victory.
